Hardy man charged following incident earlier this month

A Hardy man has been charged following two separate property dispute incidents earlier this month. According to court documents, 51-year-old Daniel Lewis Collins is facing three counts of terroristic threatening and three counts of aggravated assault, all Class D felonies. The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office reports the first incident happened on Sept. 6 on Firetower Road, when Collins allegedly confronted property owners and a family member who were clearing a fence line. During the argument, Collins reportedly returned to his vehicle, placed a gun on his hip, and made eye contact with one of the property owners in an intimidating manner. The second incident took place on Sept. 15, when Collins allegedly made death threats toward the same neighbors while at a nearby shop, according to witness statements. Collins was arrested on Sept. 16 and remains in the Sharp County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
