Forschler’s Home Store In Ash Flat Damaged By Storms Saturday

Strong storms with winds of 70 mph moved through northern Arkansas & Southern Missouri early Saturday morning, causing damage to trees and power lines in Ash Flat, and Highland. Forschler’s Home Center and warehouse both suffered major damage, The warehouse was destroyed and the roof of the Home Center caved in when part of the warehouse landed on it. There was minor damage reported to other buildings in the Ash Flat Area. There was also a report of damage in Izard County where a tree fell on a car, a pickup and a side by side in the Dolph area.  The National Weather service has confirmed that a tornado touched down near Hartville in Wright County early Saturday morning, with wind speeds at more than 70 mph. There are no reports of any injuries locally. In Southern Missouri at one point Howell Oregon Electric Cooperative was reporting as many as 1,300  customers without power.  North Arkansas Electric Cooperative reported more than 800 members without power Saturday morning. Entergy Arkansas had more than 2,700 without power.
