FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Fayetteville has begun installing hundreds of donated Ten Commandments posters in its buildings to comply with a new state law.

Act 573 of 2025 requires public schools, colleges, and taxpayer-funded facilities to prominently display a “durable poster or framed copy” of the Ten Commandments. The law allows posters to be donated or purchased through voluntary contributions, with replacements funded publicly or privately if they fail to meet state specifications.

The law is already facing a federal court challenge. U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks temporarily blocked its enforcement in several Northwest Arkansas districts in August and later ordered Conway schools to remove posted copies. Attorney General Tim Griffin has appealed the ruling, with the state’s brief due Nov. 17.
