A routine welfare check on a stranded motorist led to a drug arrest south of West Plains on October 27, according to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office. Corporal Travis D. Weaver responded to County Road 8390 after a report of a vehicle stopped in the roadway with a woman outside using a flashlight. The woman was identified as Tiffany King of West Plains, who told the deputy her truck had broken down. During the investigation, Weaver learned King had three active warrants through the West Plains Police Department and was currently on parole for a previous drug offense. She was taken into custody without incident. Weaver conducted a consent search of the vehicle, where a glass smoking device containing crystal residue was located in a black glasses case under the driver’s seat. King denied the pipe belonged to her. While retrieving her belongings, deputies also found a hairspray canister with a white crystal residue on the base, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Both items were later analyzed with a TruNarc Analyzer at the sheriff’s office, confirming the substance as methamphetamine with a total weight of approximately 0.24 grams. King is facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
