
On Tuesday night, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Deputy Kyle Hambelton conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Ford Raptor for speeding and lane violations on U.S. Highway 60 near County Road 2390. The driver was identified as Gregory Porter of Mountain View, Mo. During a search of his person, deputies located a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for suspected methamphetamine.
A further search revealed additional suspected narcotics and orange tablets. Porter was secured in the patrol vehicle while deputies conducted an inventory of the truck prior to towing. During the inventory, deputies located a loaded handgun inside the center console. Deputies also recovered a glass smoking device containing a crystal-like residue.
Porter was taken into custody and transported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office pending charges.
A previously granted search warrant for the Porter residence, located in Mountain View, was executed shortly after midnight on Wednesday. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with another resident, who was detained while the residence was cleared and searched.
During the search, deputies located: Numerous firearms, additional suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, unidentified pills, and other drug paraphernalia. Two of the seized firearms were found to have been reported as stolen out of other jurisdictions.
Gregory Porter was placed on a 24-Hour Hold Pending Formal charges. On November 19, 2025, Porter was charged with Trafficking Drugs or Attempt in the First Degree, a class B Felony. He was later released on $100,000 Bond. Additional charges are pending review by the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office
