No injuries were reported after a small plane made an emergency landing at a local farm shortly after departing from Baxter County Airport on Wednesday morning, according to the Arkansas State Police. ASP officials say the aircraft, a 1969 Cessna 172K fixed-wing, single-engine plane, came to rest in a field owned by Freeman Farms near Highway 5 North and County Road 13 in the Midway area. Authorities are not releasing the names of those on board. However, Federal Aviation Administration records indicate the plane is registered to William Talley of Bakersfield, Missouri. State police said assistance has been requested from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate the circumstances that led to the emergency landing just outside the airport. Later in the day, the aircraft was observed being towed back to Baxter County Airport along Highway 126 in Midway, with escort assistance provided by the Arkansas State Police and the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
