ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Just a month after dealing starting pitcher Sonny Gray to Boston, the Cardinals are now trading first baseman Willson Contreras to the Red Sox in exchange for three pitchers.

The Red Sox will get Contreras, and according to reports, $8 million to cover the remaining $42.5 million on his contract. In exchange, the Cardinals are receiving right-hander Hunter Dobbins, and right-handed pitching prospects Yhoiker Fajardo and Blake Aita.

Similar to Sonny Gray, Contreras waived his no-trade clause.

This past season, Contreras batted .257, with 20 home runs and 80 RBIs.
