Louisiana man faces charges after Christmas morning crash

A Louisiana man was injured in a Christmas morning crash near Thornfield and later arrested on multiple charges, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Troopers say the crash happened around 8 a.m. Thursday on Missouri Highway 95 near Thornfield when a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by a 24-year-old man from Mandeville, Louisiana ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck roadway signs and a concrete embankment before overturning and catching fire. The driver was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He was transported by Ozark County ambulance to Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas for treatment. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Sam’s Wrecker. According to an online arrest report, the same individual — identified as Scott V. Marechal, 24, of Mandeville, Louisiana — was taken into custody by the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 9 a.m., approximately one hour after the crash. Marechal is charged with driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving involving a crash. Marechal was released following medical treatment.
