A Birch Tree woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning just east of Mountain View. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 9:10 a.m. on U.S. Highway 60, roughly one mile east of town. Troopers say a northbound 2005 Pontiac Sunfire entered the highway and traveled into the path of an eastbound 2005 Ford F-350 pickup. The driver of the Pontiac, a 70-year-old woman from Birch Tree, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shannon County Coroner. Authorities say next of kin have been notified. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries. MSHP reports this marks the 36th traffic fatality in Troop G in 2025.
