West Plains man injured in Phelps County crash

Two drivers were seriously injured in a head-on crash early Monday morning in Phelps County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:48 a.m. on December 29 on U.S. Highway 63 near Edgar Springs. Troopers said a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 48-year-old man from West Plains, was traveling southbound when an 18-year-old driver from Plattsburgh crossed the center line in a Ford Focus, resulting in a head-on collision. Both vehicles were totaled, and both drivers sustained serious injuries. Air ambulance services were used to transport the drivers to separate hospitals. The teenage driver was flown to CoxHealth in Springfield, while the West Plains driver was transported to Phelps Health in Rolla.
