A Seymour man has been arrested following a reported domestic disturbance in Wright County. According to online court records, 47-year-old Brian Jeff Champagne, of Seymour, Missouri, has been charged with first-degree stalking in Wright County Circuit Court in connection with the incident. A probable cause statement indicates that an officer was dispatched to a residence in Mountain Grove at approximately 7:38 p.m. on January 28 in response to a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with the victim, who reported having video evidence showing Champagne attempting to enter a bedroom while stating that he wanted a Pepsi. The victim told officers that Champagne also attempted to fight her son, but no physical contact occurred after she intervened. Authorities later reviewed the video, which reportedly showed Champagne yelling outside the bedroom door and demanding a soda. The victim stated that she allowed Champagne’s mother into the residence to retrieve a drink for him. The victim and her son further reported that Champagne made threats to “beat victim two’s head in and kill him,” which were allegedly captured on video. Officials say Champagne was uncooperative during the investigation and questioned why he was being treated as a criminal. Authorities reported that he later left the residence and went into the garage, and was warned that returning inside would result in his arrest. Champagne was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Wright County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
