Following a multi-week investigation into missing funds from a local association, the Carter County Sheriff’s Office has announced the filing of multiple felony charges against a suspect.
The investigation began after reports surfaced of discrepancies within the association’s accounts. Evidence gathered during the probe established probable cause to believe that over $50,000 had been misappropriated.
A warrant was issued for Tonya Wethington, of Dexter, MO, on the following charges:
- Two counts of Stealing ($25,000 or more)
- Two counts of Stealing ($750 or more)
Wethington has since posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court today..
