The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to come to terms on a deal with Houston Texans safety Tyrann Mathieu, according to a report from Terez Paylor of Yahoo Sports. The deal, according to Adam Schefller of ESPN, will be worth $42 million over three years.
A third-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2013 out of LSU, the 26-year-old Mathieu played 26 games (17 starts) over his first two years in the league before putting on a performance that made him one of the NFL’s top players during the 2015 season. Mathieu won first-team All-Pro honors in 2015 after totaling 89 tackles, five interceptions and 17 passes defensed before seeing his season come to an early end due to tearing his ACL for the second time in three years.
