Man Stabbs & Cuts Himself as Officers Try To Apprehend Him In Cherokee Village

Authorities are reporting that a man stabbed and cut himself as police tried to capture him near Papoose Park in Cherokee Village. According to reports, police received a 911 call concerning a man who allegedly told his wife he was going to the Copper Feather to kill someone and then kill himself. The man indentified as Jeremy Whitten was with his wife who told officers her husband was having a mental health issue. When officers attempted to apprehend Whitten he began to run but fell.  Whitten then allegedly attempted to take his life by stabbing himself and cutting himself in the neck and wrist several times. Whitten was flown to a medical facility. Officers and emergency crews are credited with saving his life.
