Cards and Royals Win on Thursday

The St. Louis Cardinals avoided being swept in Philly with a 5-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Dakota was terrific on the mound, going 6 innings and giving up just 1 run.  The offense featured the long ball, as Marcel Ozuna, Matt Carpenter, Jed Gyorko and Matt Weiters all hit homers in the win.

The Cards head back to Busch to open a series with the 1st place Chicago Cubs tonight.

 

 

The Kansas City Royals opened their series in Texas with a 4-2 win behind the pitching of Jakob Junis.  Junis went 6 strong innings, giving up just 2 runs and 4 hits. Jorge Soler hit a 3 run homer, and Adalberto Mondesi hit a solo shot to provide the offense.  KC is at Texas again tonight.
