WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Nayla Watkins-Johnson, a 6-foot middle/opposite from Evanston, Illinois, has signed paperwork to join the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Volleyball team this fall.
“We are excited to have Nayla join our Grizzly Volleyball family and are looking forward to seeing her compete with our team this fall,” Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann said.
“She has the ability to play middle or opposite, has a lot of length, and her athleticism will be fun to watch as it grows.”
Wiedemann said she found out about Watkins-Johnson from a conversation former Grizzly Basketball player Dravon Clayborn had with Grizzly Volleyball Assistant Coach Briana Walsh.
“Dravon Clayborn knows Nayla and her family from back home and thought she might be someone to take a look at,” Wiedemann said.
Clayborn, a 6-foot, 1-inch point guard from Chicago, Illinois, was a freshman on the basketball team last season.
