The USA women’s team secured the title after a 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in the final on Sunday. A penalty kick by Megan Rapinoe in the 61st minute contributed to the U.S. women’s second consecutive World Cup championship and fourth in the eight tournaments that have been played. It also earned her the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards for best player and top goal scorer.
