MoDOT has changed the speed limit on Highway 63 from 45 miles per hour to 50 miles per hour, the location of the change is from Business Route 63 (Bill Virdon Boulevard) intersection to Route 160 (Preacher Roe Boulevard) intersection. The reason for the change is 85% of traffic averages 55 per hour in that area. The increase in speed change went into effect on July 16.
Other changes that will be implemented by the end of the day, July 18, will be signal changes. From 6 a.m. to midnight on Route 63, traffic signals will be in a protected left mode, meaning drivers will only be able to turn left on a green arrow.
From midnight to 6 a.m. on Route 63, traffic signals will be in a protected permissive mode, meaning there will be a combination of both, green arrow and flashing yellow arrow for drivers turning left.
Side roads along Route 63 will remain in a protected permissive mode where drivers will see the combination of both, green arrows and flashing yellow arrows for left turns.
