A storage unit in West Plains was a total loss after it was struck by lighting Thursday morning. Just after 8 Thursday morning firefighters from West Plains and Howell Rural Fire Departments responded to York Storage on highway 63 next to the Glass Sword. The firefighter were able to kept the fire from spreading to other units but in all about 20 units were destroyed by the fire. The owners of the units have tried to contact the renters to let them know about the fire.
