The November Election In Missouri Is One Week From Today

Elections in Missouri are one week from today on November 5th but there are not a lot of things on the ballots locally. In Howell County, West Plains citizens will be asked to decide the fate of the Parkside house.

A “YES” vote means the City will be required to use taxpayer funds toward the rehabilitation of Parkside House, and the City estimates the total rehabilitation expense could be as much as $1 million dollars, with ongoing monthly maintenance costs of around $1,000 per month.

A “NO” vote means the City can proceed with removing the house and move forward with their plan of building an all-inclusive playground complete with a splash pad.

In Texas County there are two tax issues on the ballot.

In Licking. proposition B, is an 85 cent per $100 assessed valuation hike in capitol projects levy and fund an elementary expansion, eliminate the school trailers, increase safety and security, expand the cafeterias and repair existing facilities. The tax has a 20 year sunset.

In Houston they will vote to extend a quarter cent transportation sales tax for street and sidewalk improvements. The extension is for 5 years.
