A new report says Missouri is among states experiencing a serious erosion in children’s health coverage. According to the findings released today (Wednesday) by the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families, there were 12-thousand more uninsured Missouri kids in 2018 compared to 2016 – a 17-percent increase. Traci Gleason with the Missouri Budget Project contends it’s a troubling trend, especially during times of economic growth.

The report shows the majority of uninsured kids are eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program but aren’t currently enrolled. Missouri’s child uninsured rate is five-point-seven percent, which is close to the national average.
