
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Mason Jones and Isaiah Joe each tallied 16 points as Arkansas leaned on its defense in defeating North Texas on Tuesday night at Bud Walton Arena, 66-43.
Jimmy Whitt, a graduate transfer from SMU who originally played for Arkansas, joined Jones and Joe in double figures with 13 after struggling in the season opener.
The Razorbacks (2-0) led 28-16 at halftime, which was the second consecutive outing that they had held their opponent under 20 points in a half.
CINCINNATI (AP) — Naji Marshall hit a 3-pointer that tied it in regulation and made a pair of free throws in overtime Tuesday night as No. 21 Xavier overcame poor outside shooting and rallied to a 63-58 victory over Missouri.
Missouri (2-1) missed a 3 at the end of regulation and never led in overtime, losing to a ranked team for the seventh time in a row. Dru Smith led the Tigers with 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
SPRINGFIELD – With seniors Kabir Mohammed and Keandre Cook nearly posting double-doubles, Missouri State led wire-to-wire here Tuesday in a 73-53 victory over Cleveland State to conclude a three-game home stand.
Cook led all scorers with 19 points to go with 9 rebounds, while Mohammed added 9 points and a career-high 11 boards for Missouri State (2-1). Tulio Da Silva added 13 points, with Lamont West contributing 10 for the home side.
