On Monday, January 20, 2020 at 7:13 PM, the West Plains Police Department responded to US63 and State Route CC/ Gibson Avenue regarding a motor vehicle accident involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.
Investigation revealed that the semi-truck was traveling northbound on US Highway 63 approaching the intersection of State Route CC / Gibson Avenue when the light changed from green to amber and then to red. The driver of the semi-truck failed to yield and struck a westbound passenger vehicle that had started to proceed through the intersection after their light had turned green.
The collision caused major damage to both vehicles. The passenger of the westbound passenger vehicle, identified as Anna M. Hambelton, 61years-of- age, from Dora, Missouri was transported to Ozark Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to a Springfield Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
