A man from Stone County has been charged after fragments from a gunshot ricocheted and hit a child. Leland Smith allegedly was on horseback and got into an argument with another man. He allegedly pointed a gun at the man and then fired a shot from the handgun. The debris from the bullet ricocheted and hit a seven year old child. Smith was later arrested and was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threatening, possession of a firearm by certain person and possession of marijuana.
