High School Basketball Round-up

It was a double header of basketball at the Alton High School gym last night, as the Comets opened Big Springs conference play.

In the girls game, Hannah Wigger scored 25 points as the Lady Comets beat the Bunker Lady Eagles 45-36 to improve to 2-3 on the season.

In the boys game, Alton battled back from as many as 9 points down, to tie Bunker late, but the Comets couldn’t hold the lead, and lost a thriller 48-46.  Alton had 2 chances to tie it in the final seconds but couldn’t get the shots to drop.  Canaan Heck had 19 to lead Alton, while Sophomore Cade Sutton scored 20 for Bunker.

 

The West Plains Zizzers lost to Joplin in the first round of the Carthage tournament last night 64-36.  West Plains will play Leavenworth Ks. In the consolation bracket semi-s today at 4:00.

 

The West Plains Lady Zizzers remain perfect on the season as they beat Bolivar last night 61-22 at the West Plains Civic Center.  Makenzie Brunson lead the way with 22 points for the ladies as they improve to 6-0.

The Mammoth Spring Bears and Lady Bears made the trip to Izard County Consolidated for games last night.  The Lady Bears win a close on 49-47, Shelby Vanginhoven had 15 in the victory.

In the boys game, Mammoth Spring lost to the #2 ranked Cougars 48-40.  Mammoth Spring was lead by Aiden Burns with 11 points.
