A Mountain Home woman has been arrested on manslaughter charges in connection with an accident on June 12th that claimed the life of an unborn baby. 43 year old Michele Lynn Wood was arrested on charges of manslaughter and reckless driving. Wood allegedly was seen driving erratically by several people before the accident occurred. With one person calling 911 and giving them reports of where she was as she drove through Mountain Home almost causing other accidents before hitting a couple of vehicles. A passenger in the second vehicle hit was eight months pregnant and was rushed to Baxter Regional Medical Center, where she was taken into surgery and delivered a baby girl. Two days later the baby was taken off life support at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. According to the medical examiner the baby sustained fatal hypoxic brain injury in utero when the mother was injured in the car accident. The mother had seen a physician the day before the accident and was given a clean bill of health.
