The 6-6, 210-pound, left-handed wing was a three-year starter for the Panthers and head coach Jeff Capel out of the ACC. Through 16 games of his junior campaign at Pitt during the 2020-21 season, Toney averaged 14.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
