Since Senator Roy Blunt announced in March that he would not seek re-election there has been a lot of speculation as to who would run for the Senate Seat. Recently 8th District Congressman Jason Smith was asked if he was interested in running.
Blunt served two terms in the senate, seven terms in the U.S House, and also served two terms as Missouri’s Secretary of State. Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and ex-governor Eric Grietens have both announced they would run for the senate seat. Lt Governor Mike Kehoe and Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft both said they would not run for the senate seat.
