Fire officials in Missouri and Arkansas have responded to more fires this year than the previous year.
According to the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the Red Cross, from January to March of this year, the Missouri and Arkansas Region responded to more than 1,100 home fires, affecting close to 4,000 people, which is an increase of over 230 fires than the same time last year.
This spring, Red Cross volunteers and community partners are working together through a national Sound the Alarm effort to educate 100,000 people in at-risk communities about home fire safety. To learn more about the program, visit SoundTheAlarm.org.
