A man from Ava was injured in a motorcycle accident in Douglas County Friday. The highway Patrol reports that 58-year-old James Gilliand suffered moderate injuries when he hit a deer in the roadway. Gilliand was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The accident happened on Highway U about 8 miles northeast of Ava.
