The Missouri Attorney General is appealing a court order forcing the state to sell part of the Eleven Point State Park. The state bought the 4200 acres in 2016, using money they received from a settlement involving lead mining. The U.S Forest Service has easements of about 6 miles of river frontage and a judge ruled the land is protected under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and the state cannot develop it for public use. Judge Steven Privette ruled the state broke the law when it bought the land using public funds.  At this point it is unclear if the state has to sell the 625 acres of river frontage, will they develop the rest of the acreage.
