Missouri adopts medication data base

mo-state-flag

Missouri is the last state to adopt a medication database.

Governor Mike Parson signed the legislation into law on Monday.

The database will help track prescription drugs and possibly spot misuses of them.

The legislation has faced pushback from republicans for years due to fear of hacking the program and patrons’ privacy being at risk.

This database will collect data on medications that are considered controlled substances like opioids, painkillers, or anti-anxiety medications.

The data will not be available to law enforcement agencies and should only be used for medical treatment.
