Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson approved a 3% merit pay raise for workers for state employees.
Hutchinson announced $28 million in both federal and state allocated funds were used for the pay increase, the Republican governor saying this is the biggest tax increase since he took office in January of 2015.
Nearly 26,000 employees are able to receive the pay raise.
