
The National Weather Service in Springfield says that our area is still under a heat advisory, the heat will start early in the morning and continue late Thursday evening.
Forecasters expect the heat to reach the mid to upper 90’s, while heat index values will reach up to 109.
Since it is that time of year, the National Weather Service wants to remind everyone that heat exhaustion or heat strokes can occur when body temperatures become excessively hot.
If you must work outside, take precautions.
Make sure you are fully hydrated and drink plenty of fluids, avoid drinking alcohol or consuming caffeine, wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose clothing, and spend time in the air conditioning.
Make sure to check in on neighbors, family members, and the elderly.
