The Trooper Shot this morning in Wright has been identified as 39 year old Robert Crewes. He was taken to the hospital in Springfield where he was treated and released this afternoon. The Highway patrol reports that he was grazed by two gunshots to the head. The trooper called for backup and he and a Mansfield Officer exchanged fire with the suspect. The suspect was shot several times, his name and condition have not been released at this time. Trooper Crewes was called to the area to investigate a suspicious vehicle, when he discovered the vehicle had the tags of another vehicle, he called for backup and that is when the gunfire began. we will continue to keep you updated as more details become available.
