The City of West Plains announced their curbside recycling program is back up and running after a short suspension.
Recycling is offered to residents of West Plains free of charge.
The city will provide a recycling bin to utility customers along with free curbside collection and access to a recycling drop-off center free of charge to anyone who wishes to participate outside of West Plains city limits.
The press release notes that 75% of trash Americans throw away each week is recyclable, but only around 25% is actually recycled.
Citizens are asked to sort their recyclables into six different categories: glass, aluminum, tin cans, number 1 and 2 plastics, paper, and cardboard.
If you’d like to participate in the recycling program, call the sanitation department at 417-255-2330.
