Charges were filed against a man from Oregon County on Wednesday for a crime that occurred in April according to court records.

A probable cause affidavit states that the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of a man subject shooting a firearm on County Road 206E.

Deputy Grey Huddleston with Oregon County arrived to find a male subject matching the description of the suspect.

The male subject identified himself as 61-year-old David Davis.

The deputy asked if he had any identification available, Davis replied that it was back at his cabin, and Huddleston followed him there.

Upon entry into Davis’s home, the deputy observed multiple bongs and pipes laying around the main room.

The deputy claimed he could identify the smell of marijuana coming from the residence.

Davis was then placed into custody and he agreed for his residence to be searched.

A marijuana plant and a sawed-off shotgun were discovered in the home.

Davis claimed the weapon that he fired on the county road was at another residence.

Both Davis and Huddleston went to the other residence and retrieved the weapon.

After all searches had been completed, Deputy Huddleston found 1 marijuana plant which weighed 72 grams, a Ruger 44 special revolver, a defaced sawed-off shotgun with a barrel length of 11 inches, 2 bongs, 11 pipes, 2 grinders, a rubber container containing marijuana wax, a roller, and hemostats. Both firearms were reported to be functional.

Davis was taken to the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office and is now facing charges for felony manufacture of a controlled substance – 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid, felony unlawful possession, transport, manufacture, repair, or sale of an illegal weapon, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Davis will be back in court in early September.

Deputy Huddleston was at the back of the residence watching the door from behind a tree.

Huddleston began to see someone looking out the back door, the male opened the door and jumped from the back deck.
