
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an arrest of a man that is now facing assault charges from an altercation that occurred on August 26.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Deputy Jacob Hamby with the Sheriff’s Office traveled to an address on Route 14 in West Plains for a report of a male subject who was attempting to slash a vehicle’s tires and later attempting to set it on fire.
When authorities arrived on the scene, it was noted that the male subject, 40-year-old Rodney Roberts left the residence on foot.
Roberts was located near the residence, placed under arrest, and shortly after began resisting law enforcement.
While attempting to get Roberts to the patrol car, he started pulling away, pushing back and attempting to fall to the ground.
Roberts failed to comply with commands the entire time.
When he was being placed in the control car, assaulted Deputy Hamby and Corporal Hughston in the legs and groin area several times by kicking both of them.
Roberts appeared to be under the influence at the time of contact.
He is now facing 2 felony charges of 3rd-degree assault of a special victim.
Roberts bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.
