An event at the Sharp County Detention facility back in April led to charges being filed on Friday according to court documents.
A probable cause affidavit states that jail administrator Serena Martin advised of a situation the night before April 9, 2021, that caused damage to the jail involving a 39-year-old inmate Joshua Sawyer.
After reviewing security camera footage, jail officials found Sawyer on the second floor throwing tables, books, and other miscellaneous items at the control tower glass.
An estimated $492.81 of items were damaged after the events that occurred in April.
Sawyer now faces charges of 1st-degree criminal mischief and impairing the operation of a vital public facility, causing property damage.
