In a press release this morning the Texas County Commission announced that through legal council that learned a confirmed vacancy has been created in the Sheriff’s Office. A Number of potential candidates were contacted to act as sheriff until the general election in November. The Commission has selected Rowdy Douglas to act as Sheriff. A discussion with acting sheriff Marie Lasater and several other members of law enforcement took place and they concur with the commission’s selection. Douglas has served as a detective for the Sheriff’s Office and is familiar with the various challenges presented to the office. He is Qualified to hold the position. Douglas says he does not plan on filing for the position that will appear on the November ballot. The Swearing in ceremony took place at 10:30 this morning at the Texas County Justice Center.
