
Another night, another rookie with a good pitching performance for the St. Louis Cardinals, and this time, the Redbirds made the most of it. The Cards beat the Reds 4-2 in 11 innings last on a Dexter Fowler 2-run homer. Rookie pitcher Austin Gomber was terrific on the mound, going 6.1 innings of 1 hit baseball, he had a no-hitter until the 7th, before giving up a 2-run homer. The Cards wrap up their series with the Reds today at Great American Ballpark with another rookie on the hill. Jack Flaherty gets the start for St. Louis.
