
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of a Georgia man after a high-speed pursuit through the county.
When the pursuit started, on Sept. 30, a Howell County Sheriff’s Deputy seen a vehicle driving toward State Highway 160 near Luna Drive in West Plains, MO.
The deputy initiated pursuit when 23-year-old Brandon Jones of Colquitt, GA failed to yield to a stop sign, didn’t use a turn signal and was driving erratically in the roadway, traveling at a high rate of speed.
In the pursuit, the vehicle blew a tire and crashed into a roadside ditch on State Highway 160.
Jones exited the vehicle and began running on foot, but was eventually caught by Sheriff’s Deputies.
After bring searched, Jones reportedly had a bag with a white substance inside his pocket, authorities also found a bag matching the same description, a firearm, and thousands of dollars inside the wrecked vehicle.
Jones is now facing charges for delivery of 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid, resisting arrest creating a substantial risk of injury or death, and unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.
He was taken to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office and the bond was set at $50,000.
