Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway recently announced that her office has started a regularly scheduled audit of Howell County. The most recent audit of Howell County was completed in 2014, with the county receiving an overall performance rating of fair.
The audit will review county processes to ensure taxpayer resources have been used effectively and appropriately. Any findings will include recommendations for improvements.
A 2014 audit of Howell County recommended improvements to the County Collector’s office and property tax system. Additional findings related to the public administrator’s office, the sheriff’s office and the county’s processes for fuel usage.
