On Friday, December 31, 2021 at approximately 5:38PM West Plains Police Officer Micah “Brent” McKemie conducted a traffic stop on the 3600 block of US Highway 63, West Plains, Howell County Missouri as part of an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation.
As a result of the investigation Officer McKemie conducted a search of the vehicle, which was occupied by a lone male subject. Officer McKemie recovered approximately one-half pound (8 ounces) of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine, as well as over $2,000 in US Currency.
Dennis Gates, 44, of Springfield Missouri was taken into custody at the scene. Gates was charged in Howell County Associate Court with Trafficking Drugs – 1st Degree. Gates posted $100,000 cash or corporate surety bond and was released from custody. Gates has a history of drug trafficking charges out of multiple jurisdictions.
