Arkansas State Police have arrested a Cherokee Village police officer on suspicion of beating a suspect two years ago, then laughing about it. This morning, a Sharp County judge found probable cause to charge 44 year old Josh Trivitt, with second-degree battery. The Charges stem from a lawsuit filed in May. A man claimed Trivitt and three other law enforcement officers assaulted him during an arrest at his home. The lawsuit alleged Trivitt body-slammed the victim during an arrest at his home on Nov. 12, 2016. Afterward, the suit stated, Trivitt and the others could be seen on police video “laughing and mentioning how badly Plaintiff was bleeding.”
Trivitt’s wife also faces criminal charges in an unrelated matter which was first reported last year. In April 2017, Mandy Marie Trivitt was accused of embezzling more than $150,000 from her employer.
She was charged with theft of property, second-degree forgery, and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card after investigators say she wrote $152,898 worth of checks on Musick Pest Control.
According to online records, the case has been continued.
