The attorney for former Texas County Sheriff James Sigman and his chief deputy has asked a judge to dismiss charges against both. Officers with the Missouri Highway Patrol arrested Sheriff James Sigman and his chief deputy, Lieutenant Jennifer Tomaszewski in July. They both face felony assault, felony first-degree robbery, felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, felony second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony harassment, misdemeanor misuse of official information by a public servant, and misdemeanor false impersonation charges. Attorney Jason Coatney laid out his arguments in Texas County Circuit Court. Coatney has argued Sigman is still the sheriff, despite the Texas County Commission naming a replacement.
