Trustees Charged With Helping Inmates Escape

Two trustees at the Sharp County jail have been charged in connection with the escape of three inmates in July. During the course of the investigation into the escape authorities reviewed surveillance video that revealed Trustees Richard Dixon of Batesville and Aaron Riviere of Cherokee Village talking to the escapees before they escaped. The same two trustees were seen unlocking a shower door that leads to a hallway that connects to the common area and the laundry room. the Prisoners disabled a deadlock to the recreation yard and crawled under a fence. Dixon and Riveire are both charged with a class C Felony of assisting in or furnishing an implement for escape.
