Izard County man faces theft charges after stealing “beer signs” from shed in Oxford

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a man on theft charges.

According to court documents filed in the county on Monday, Investigator Sean Tomlinson had spoken with a victim about an alleged theft that had taken place at his residence on Morgan Hill Road in Oxford.

He reports that he had three “neon beer signs” stored in a shed on the property.

After entering the shed, he realized the signs were gone.

The victim explained that he had received information of a man that had taken the signs from the residence and sold them to a business in Mountain Home.

The victim stated he called the business and confirmed a description matching 30-year-old Ryan Zeigler.

The business owner stated that the signs matched the descriptions of the ones that were stolen.

The owner stated the business purchased the signs for a “pool stick” and $300 cash.

The victim stated the signs were worth approximately $1,500.

Investigator Tomlinson then contacted the business owner and received photos of the man who matched Zeigler’s description.

On Jan. 27, Tomlinson contacted Zeigler to speak about the signs, but he stated he could not drive to the Sheriff’s Office on the presented day, but he would be able to meet the next day.

Zeigler was told the interview would pertain to the stolen neon signs, and when he was asked if he knew anything about the signs, he replied, “well possibly,” then continued to say, “that was kind of stupidity on my part.”

Zeigler stated he was trying to speak to the victim about the situation and was trying to make it right.

He canceled two appointments made with Tomlinson and refused to speak about the matter further.

Zeigler faces charges for felony breaking or entering and felony theft of property – more than $1,000 but less than $5,000.

His bond was set at $10,000.
