
A man was injured in a Douglas County accident on Monday evening after striking multiple guardrails.
According to crash reports, a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue driven by 56-year-old Robert Martinez of Squires, MO was traveling southbound on Highway 5, half a mile south of Ava, when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, then traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck another guardrail.
The crash report states that approximately 60 feet of guardrail were damaged during the accident.
Martinez had serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to the Cox South Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.
