Seven charged in riot at Calico Rock Correction Facility

Multiple prisoners in the North Central Unit of Corrections in Calico Rock face charges after an alleged riot at the facility on Feb. 3. 

Court documents say 20-year-old Donte Davis, 20-year-old Steffon Hunter, 20-year-old Lloyd Smith, 33-year-old Anthony Dennis, 20-year-old Dayvon Walker, 22-year-old Tattan Cummings, and 20-year-old Jessie Helms were all charged in the incident. 

Jackie Stinnett with the Arkansas State Police led the investigation at the DOC facility. 

Davis faces charges of arson, rioting, impairing the operations of a vital public facility, criminal mischief, and two charges of battery. 

Hunter is charged with impairing the operations of a vital public facility, criminal mischief, and rioting. The affidavit stated Hunter helped break windows out of the barracks. 

Smith is charged with impairing the operations of a vital public facility, mischief, arson, rioting, battery, after assaulting other inmates and setting sheets on fire inside the barracks. 

Dennis faces charges for impairing the operation of a vital public facility, rioting, criminal mischief, and battery. Video shows Dennis destroying windows and assaulting other inmates.  The total cost of damage totaled $14,677.50. 

Walker faces three counts of battery and criminal mischief. Walker is accused of destroying medical equipment that totaled $1,286.91. 

Cummings is charged with arson, impairing the operations of a vital public facility, and battery. He punched an inmate and set fire to a sheet tied to window bars. 

Finally, Helms faces charges of criminal mischief and impairing the operations of a vital public facility. According to the affidavit, Helms caused $7,543 worth of damage to windows at the unit and entered a fight with another prisoner. 

When all seven inmates were asked to make a comment, they all refused an interview with investigators.
